About us
Aquaculture@Fraunhofer is the centre for applied research, consulting and transfer in the value chain of the aquaculture sector. The centre has set itself the task of networking industry and research in the field of aquaculture and initiating cooperation with the expertise of the various Fraunhofer institutes. We work closely with our partners to jointly develop innovations and solutions. In doing so, we place particular emphasis on sustainability and circular economy. Our centre offers unique expertise in various areas of the aquaculture sector. We deal with the topics: Fish Nutrition and Feed Technology, Fish Health and Animal Welfare, Innovative Aquaculture Technology and Fish Husbandry, Digitalisation and Automation, Aquatic Resources for Food and Health Industries, and Water Treatment and Analytics. We have diverse experimental infrastructures and testing capacities spread across different locations to guarantee successful research.
We establish and maintain not only national but also international contacts and network the right actors along the value chain to promote the blue bioeconomy and blue health technology. We are happy to contribute to the sustainable development of aquaculture.
